Well-known resorts along the Dalmatian coast are
Dubrovnik, Split, Porec and Trogir, all of them listed on UNESCO's World
Heritage List.
The Northern Adriatic resort of Opatija, known for its
long tourist tradition, was a popular destination of the
European nobility for hundreds of years. Recently, the 5-star hotel Millennium
was opened.
Almost 10 percent of the country is protected as part of
a national park or preserve. The best known National Park
in Croatia, Plitvice Lakes, is protected by UNESCO.
Beyond its natural beauty, Croatia has been a center
of culture for at least 2,000 years beginning with Romans. Zagreb is the
capital and a center of arts and culture, having more than 10 active theatres,
numerous museums and galleries hosting world-renowned
exhibits, concerts and festivals.
Access is very simple, whether you travel by air, train,
ship or car, but the absence of modern freeways gets you in difficulties.

Airlines through European gateways. Nevertheless, the Croatian ferry
system connects the Adriatic islands to the mainland as
well as to Italy.
English is widely spoken. Numerous first-class and deluxe
hotels as well as quaint bed and breakfast type

stages all over Croatia local, native, country, regional
and national folklore shows are organized - presenting
customs, dances, beliefs, costumes. Local amateur
